Benefits of Going Soap Free by Using Himalaya Herbals Skincare for a Week

So I decided to go soap free for a week and chose to experiment with Himalaya Herbals because it is one of my go-to skincare brands when I am having a skincare detox. In fact, I still have 2 tubes of the Himalaya Herbals Neem Face Wash that I use whenever my skin needs to take a rest from testing out and reviewing tons of products that I usually share on my blogs and vlogs. But why did I do that? Are there really benefits to going soap free?

Yes there are!

Voila!!!

Wowed by what you see above? I am too! There are really benefits to going soap free more so when you have inflammed skin like I do. Let's talk about those below!

Benefits to Going Soap Free

with Himalaya Herbals

Have you ever experienced a time when even your favorite skincare products just don't seem to work anymore and that no matter what you do your skin isn't behaving?

I find that whenever that happens, it is when my skin has had enough of all my 'abuse' towards it. Using and testing a multitude of products can take its toll, even if those products are high quality ones from name brands

That's when I usually decide on going soap free for a few days and using natural non-irritating skin care products.

The benefits of going soap free for me are as follows:

Using soap free face wash can preserve the skin's pH balance. Breakouts and irritation often happens when the skin cannot regulate itself due to the constant disruption of pH levels that harsh ingredients like those found in commercial soaps can bring. By going for a mild natural face scrub and a soap free face wash, you can retain the important surface oils that protect your skin and keep it hydrated.

Another one of the benefits of soap free (more so for face wash) is that my face lines, bumps/texture, and rosacea isn't as pronounced as can be seen in the photo above. My rosacea 'behaved' because the SLS-free, SLE-free, paraben-free, and soap free formula of the skincare products I used for a week helped preserved my skin's ability to self regulate, keeping irritation causing redness and bumps at bay.

The benefits of going soap free isn't confined to your face. There are articles written from a scientific point of view that enumerate what it can do for your body as well, more so for those with skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. As much as I would like to talk about the pros of showering soap free now, I better just blog about those on another day as a separate topic.

So yeah, I chose to go soap free for my face and neck by testing out the Himalaya Herbals products below because they claimed to do what I want. I was hoping that a quick skin detox wherein I'll use paraben-free, soap free, and natural products will somehow recharge my skin.

And it did!

I admit to having high expectations testing the other products below because the Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Wash is one of my favorites and also great for my acne prone and sensitive skin. So yes, I already trust and love some products from this brand when it comes to my skincare.

Good thing Sampleroom sent me samples of the Himalaya Herbals whitening line. Let me share with you how they worked in my 'going soap free experiment'. My commentaries in purple :)

Himalaya Herbals Clear Complexion Whitening Face Scrub

(179 pesos 100 ml)

The Himalaya Herbals Clear Complexion Whitening Face Scrub claims to be a skin enhancing face scrub. The product information says that it has mild exfoliants that brings out the skin’s natural fairness.

CLAIMS: This natural face scrub has White Dammer, Licorice, and Apricot granules that help regulate the production of melanin as it gently scrubs away deeply embedded dirt, dead skin cells, and blackheads, resulting to visibly soft and glowing skin.

Now, I already know that Licorice works for me because it is a key ingredient in my old-time favorite lotion (that was discontinued). I also love the exfoliating effect of Apricot granules, also a key ingredient in one of my favorite scrubs from another brand. What I wanted to know is how effective White Dammer will be because I've never used a natural face scrub with it prior to this, same for other skin care products.

USAGE: I used this natural face scrub on alternating days gently scrubbing on my neck and face before following up with the face wash below.

Himalaya Herbals Clear Complexion Whitening Face Wash

(84 pesos 50 ml)

Reading the product details on the Himalaya Herbals Clear Complexion Whitening Face Wash is what prompted me to experiment on going soap free for a week. Yeah, this is 'the one'  :)

CLAIMS: The packaging states that it is a gentle, soap-free face wash that cleanses, enhances, and clarifies the skin resulting to a glowing and brighter complexion. I'm like, "wow! Who doesn't want that?"

This soap free face wash features Saffron, White Dammer, Licorice, Cucumber, and Pomegranate. The combination claims to make the skin glow and give the user a brighter complexion as the ingredients are supposed to regulate dark pigment production thereby lightening dark spots.

Saffron is the main soothing and moisturizing ingredient, Pomegranate and Cucumber promises to provide nourishment and Licorice and White Dammer as the main antioxidants and skin whiteners.

USAGE: I usually use the Himalaya Herbals Clear Complexion Whitening Face Wash on my moistened face and spreading in gentle circular motions before rinsing off and pat drying.

Himalaya Herbals Clear Complexion Whitening Day Cream

(289 pesos 50 ml)

The Himalaya Herbals Clear Complexion Whitening Day Cream was so intriguing for me because it claims to have herbal sunscreen. I was like, WHAT???!!!

I was also curious about whether it will be hydrating enough for my oily but dehydrated skin.

CLAIMS:

  • can whiten skin
  • can even out skin tone
  • is a great base for makeup
  • has herbal sunscreen
  • can hydrate the skin
It did not dry out my skin!

I like that they wrote everything you will ever want to know on the box. Saves me time from having to look up things on google.

The packaging has heft to it too. It feels 'mabigat'

USAGE:  I used this for both day and night even though this is called a day cream. Their website says apply twice a day so I also used this at night for a week.

Above is a close up of the Himalaya Herbals natural face scrub, soap free face wash and the day cream. I'll describe each below and what I think about each product.

  • Natural Face Scrub - thick and creamy with sparse granules. Not as rough as the one from St. Ives (my all-time fave)
  • Soap Free Face Wash - this feels like a liquidy lotion with a mild lotiony and fruit scent. It doesn't foam up and your face won't feel tight after using. Don't be fooled though because it does a great job cleansing. If you do wear makeup though, you will have to remove that first with another cleanser (try a mild carrier oil to keep things natural)
  • Day Cream - thick and a bit slick but not oily. Quite unique compared to other products I've tried and does not absorb fully. I find that this leaves my skin a bit tacky. Perhaps that is why this is a good base for makeup? Because this truly is! (surprisingly!).

Going Natural & Soap Free Benefits Summary
