Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen Review - Is it Really Skin Brightening and Skin Whitening?

My Belo SunExpert Tinted Sunscreen review was posted 3 years ago so it's been a while since Belo Sun Expert launched a sunscreen product for the face. The Belo SunExpert Face Cover was launched even earlier and got a review of that too HERE

Anyway, to say that I was excited to try the newest, the Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen, is an understatement. Given my positive experiences from the Sun Expert line over the past 3 years (I still don't know if it is one or two words, haha!), I was really looking forward to trying. Sampleroom sending this to me 2 weeks ago is a blessing because I get to share my thoughts here, yay! (4 weeks update shared below too!)

Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen SPF50 And PA++ Review

What is Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen?

Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen is like the Face Cover but made even better. SPF was raised from 40 to 50 plus you also get the skin brightening and skin whitening benefits of Niacinamide, one of my favorite skincare ingredients that I often mention in the PinayBeautyAndStyle blog.

This new sunscreen from the Belo SunExpert line is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, and paraben-free like their other products and retails for P375 for a 50ml tube.

I wish they'd have this in travel size too just like the Belo SunExpert Face Cover and Body Shield.

Why You Need the Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen to Have Fairer and Brighter Sun-Protected Skin this Summer?

Skin whitening in the Philippines is part of the norm in terms of the local culture of beauty. But, more than just wanting to have brighter skin or whiter skin, I think that the majority of Filipinas now care about protecting their skin from the sun's damaging rays too. They know that it is important to keep their skin sun-protected whether or not they are aiming to have whiter skin.

When the skin is overexposed to the sun's damaging rays, it sends a signal to the body to produce more melanin to help protect itself against further damage. This is why it is advised to wear sunscreen like the Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen to prevent skin darkening and promote brighter or whiter skin.

I personally don't want to be whiter because I am already fair but I wanted to know if this can lighten my dark spots and acne marks.

Expert sun protection is a must during the summer. The Philippines is a tropical country and is quite near the equator. Around this time of the year, morning sunlight can be scalding hot as early as 7 am! Imagine how much melanin your skin will produce not to mention the release of free-radicals which can hasten aging! Sun damage can affect existing marks too, making them more obvious.

BTW, the travel pack is now only 99 pesos. Last year it was P149. I think it is great that they made the Belo SunExpert Travel Kit more affordable.

With the above said, what you need is expert sun protection that not only protects you from the sun but also promotes skin regeneration (if you want to have whiter skin or even just brighter skin for summer).

What Makes Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen a Must-Have for Summer?

This sunscreen:
-contains Brightening Essence and Niacinamide to lighten skin with regular and continued use
-features Cell Protect® to minimize premature skin aging
-water resistant
-works instantly upon application
-non-sticky
-lightweight
-has SPF 50 and PA++
-paraben-free, non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, and tested by dermatologists

The ingredients for the Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen are paraben-free and as far as I know, cruelty-free too.

The texture is a lightweight cream that absorbs easily. I find that it has almost no scent and doesn't react with my BB cream and foundation. This is good news for those who wear sunscreen under their makeup like myself.

The Belo SunExpert Whitening sunscreen is non-sticky for real. I haven't tested yet if it is indeed waterproof because did not go to the beach yet. So far I've been okay and did not get sunburned even when I went to a team building weekend. I was sweating like a pig and was under full afternoon sun for about an hour. The sunscreen stayed on!

Is the Belo Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen Worth Buying if You Want to Have Whiter Skin for Summer?

Frankly, I've only been using this for about 12 days. I think it is too early to tell if it can whiten the skin because (1) I am already fair-skinned and (2) 12 days is too short a time to determine how effective it is for skin whitening and skin brightening (see update).

Update: I saw the skin brightening effects after about 3 weeks of use. Lightened my existing marks.

One thing is for sure and that is I didn't get sunburned after being under full sun wearing this on my face and neck, and I burn easily because of my fair skin.

NOTE: use a primer on top of this if you'll be wearing water-based foundation.

I also wear the Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen as my daily sunscreen these days. Perfect because I commute most days that I'm out.

Took the photo above while riding GRAB Share. This was somewhere in Makati and there was a campaign on the street. I was stuck in the sunny side for about half an hour. No sunburns! For someone who burns quite easily, that's HUGE!

Belo SunExpert Whitening Sunscreen Review Summary

  • Consistency: this feels like a watery lotion (similar to the Belo BB Cream!)
  • Spreadability: surprisingly, this spreads like primer or a light moisturizer.
  • Scent: I can't detect a scent. Maybe very faint coconutty scent.
  • How it feels: Feels like second skin, like you're not wearing anything at all.
  • Sensitive skin: No reaction for me. No redness, no breakouts so far.
  • White cast?: No white cast which is quite surprising because it has SPF50.
  • Coverage: No coverage. This is not makeup
  • Oily-skin approved?: YES!!!

4.5/5 rating for now! Will wait for a month of use to see if there is skin brightening and skin whitening! I'm only 12 days in!

UPDATE: Soon brightening effect seen after about 3 weeks! Lightened my acne marks slightly. As promised, this update is written after 4 weeks of use! Will continue updating this Belo Sunexpert Whitening Sunscreen Review!

My personal stash. I review this line a lot because I am a real-life user and buy their products myself, even before I started blogging and vlogging!
